- Agatha Awards was established in 1989 by Malice Domestic Ltd. and presented every spring at the Malice Domestic Mystery Convention. Qualifications include "mysteries which contain no explicit sex or excessive gore or violence; and usually (but not limited to) featuring an amateur detective, a confined setting and characters who know one another."
- Anthony Awards is presented in the fall at the Bouchercon a.k.a. the World Mystery Conference and chosen by the Anthony Boucher Memorial Mystery Convention Conference Committee.
- Dagger Awards is presented by the Crime Writers Association of Great Britain in tha fall. All entries submitted by British publishers.
- Dily Awards is presented yearly by the Independent Mystery Booksellers Assocation.
- Edgar Awards is presented in May at the Mystery Writers of America conference and honors the "best in mystery, fiction, nonfiction, television, film and theater published or produced."
- Macavity Awards is chosen by the Mystery Readers International.
- Nero Awards is presented by the official Nero Wolfe Society a.k.a the Wolfe Pack during their annual Black Orchid Banquet on the first Saturday in December.
- Shamus Awards is presented yearly by the Private Eye Writers of America at the World Mystery Conference. Check the Thrilling Detective website for a complete list of Shamus winners.
- Thriller Awards is presented yearly by the International Thriller Writers at their ThrillFest convention.
