NRS 239.013 Confidentiality of records of library which identify user with property used. Such records may be disclosed only in response to an order issued by a court upon a finding that the disclosure of such records is necessary to protect the public safety or to prosecute a crime.
(Added to NRS by 1981, 182)
Patron records are kept for the purpose of contacting patrons to recover materials, replacement costs, or other charges the patron may have incurred through library use, and for tracking statistics about library usage. Henderson Libraries keeps no records of patrons' social security numbers, driver's license numbers, or credit card numbers.
Henderson Libraries protect patron privacy by issuing library cards and PIN numbers which identify the patron and provide access to the patron account for checking materials in and out, requesting library materials, and recording payments. Please have your library card ready at any time you wish to carry on a library transaction. It is the fastest, most accurate way for you to access your library account. If you are discussing your account with library staff over the phone, you will be asked for full name or other information to verify your identity. Parents may ask for information about their custodial children's library accounts if they have the child's library card number available.
You are responsible for all transactions on your library account. If your card is lost or stolen, please report it immediately.
