Library of Congress Map Collections
The Map Collections include maps from 1500-2002. Categories include Cities and Towns, Military Battles and Campaigns, and Cultural Landscapes. The maps are browsable by keyword, geographic location, subject, creator, and title. 

Geographic Names Info
From the United States Geological Survey, this website allows you to search by feature name, state or territory, and feature type. Variant names are given.

Historical Maps of US
This website was developed by the University of Texas at Austin. It includes maps in the following categories: Early Inhabitants, Exploration and Settlement, US Territorial Growth, Military History Maps, and Later Historical Maps.

Map & Geographic Info Center University of Connecticut
MAGIC is a website that includes maps from the Connecticut state level, New England, and the rest of the United States. There is also a historical map collection available online.

Historical County Lines
Features historical county line maps for all 50 states.

MapQuest
Allows you to enter a location and will generate a map of that location. One can also get directions between two points (or more) and their associated maps.

Railroad Maps, 1828-1900
Developed by the Library of Congress, this site features a selection of 623 maps that highlight the development of the North American railroad system. The database is searchable by keyword, geographic location, subject, creator, title, and railroad lines.
