Henderson, NV– Henderson Libraries checked out their millionth item during the fiscal year on Monday evening. Library Director, Tom Fay, said “It is always exciting to hit a milestone such as this. The over one million items circulated this year equates to approximately $47 million in retail value to our patrons.”
This is the first time that Henderson Libraries has checked out over one million items in a single year. This fiscal year began July 1, 2006. The number of checkouts is comprised of all materials, including books, audiovisual materials, and recently available downloadable materials, checked out from all library locations. The library district has four library branches, a mobile extension library (MEL), and deposit collections at a variety of senior living facilities. All of these locations contributed to the increase in circulation this year.
Fay credits the increase in circulation to outstanding customer service offered by library staff. “We have an outstanding team of staff members who work very hard through the year to bring our patrons the best customer service and new, innovative services,” said Fay. The library district celebrated their accomplishment with staff and patrons by providing cake and commemorative pencils at each library branch.
With four library locations, plus their Mobile Extension Library, Henderson Libraries offers services to patrons throughout Henderson. For more information about Henderson Libraries, visit their homepage at http://www.mypubliclibrary.com/.
